Pasupatiswarar Temple : ウィキペディア英語版 | Pasupatiswarar Temple
The Pasupatiswarar Temple is located in Pandanallur in the Thiruvidaimarudur taluk of Thanjavur district. The sannidhi of Swami is called "Thirugnana Sambandar entrance". There is a separate temple for Parmalavalli(parvathi) with Adikesava Perumal inside the complex. The lingam appears white in colour and is believed to have derived the colour from the milk poured by Kamadenu. ==Legend behind the temple== Lord Parvathi wanted to play with a ball. Lord Shiva collated the four vedas as a ball for his consort. To avoid interference, Parvathi disallowed sunset. This resulted in natural calamity leading to the fury of Shiva and kicked away the ball to obscurity. The lord cursed parvathi to become a cow and ordered her to worship him in the place where the ball was floated under kondrai tree. Parvathi in the form of Kamadhenu, the holy cow worshipped the lord in snake's lair in Pandanallur. Lord Vishnu who herd the cow, found the cow devoid of milk one day and canned it. The cow was rescued by the lord Shiva from the lair and Parvathi was freed of the curse. This place has been referred to in thevaram written by Saint Poet (7th Century AD) Thirugnana Sambanthar.
